Before I start, I have to say that you should be testing and tracking every Internet marketing promotion strategy that you implement. Without tracking, you won't know what works, and without testing you cannot heighten your results. With that being said, let's get into this great method!

I am sure a higher resolution banner would perform best as long as I keep the rest of the credentials above in check.

How to find places to advertise your banner

The best places to advertise are high traffic blogs and websites in your niche, hands down. The only problem is that the best sites can cost quite a bit of money and if you haven't located a banner ad before, it can be kind of risky.

One banner ad alone can cost 0 per month!

The best way to minimize risk is by finding sites that are not quite as popular yet. You can either do a crusade for them or even check out the commenters sites on blogs you already read.

For your first banner ad, I would recommend doing an ad colse to to just to see how many clicks you get versus the whole of impressions. It can give you a general idea of how well you might perform on a higher traffic site.

One way to make sure you'll get some results

I wouldn't recommend buying advertising from a site that doesn't show you your inherent audience in one way or another. This could be their whole of readers, email subscribers, group media following, or broad traffic stats.
